This week is Fashion Preview at La Maison Ogilvy, one of Montreal’s fashion staple houses! This event is happening over the course of three days and is at its fourth edition. It’s primary mission is to make us discover the unique prêt-à-porter collections of Montreal designers as well as local fashion accessories designers. The intimate setting is an innovative concept and approach to fashion that allows for a better visibility of the designs of our Montreal talented creators. When I attended the event on the first day, my favourite designers were by far the Joncas. These two brothers’ work was quite a beautiful discovery! They mastered the art of fluidity and refinement in every single garment they presented! Their SS16 Sea Flores Collection was not only elegant but powerful too! Strong and feminine, just the way I like it :) You can take a look at my favourite looks from the collection on my social media accounts. It was quite hard to choose them, because I loved so many! Looking forward to tonight’s shows!
Even though we are discovering the Spring-Summer 2016 collections this week, fall is in full swing and so is its fashion! Crisp mornings and evenings call for leather jackets, trench coats and the season’s it piece; the poncho! I find this item to be very versatile, creating different styles. You can just throw it over your outfit of the day without putting much thought into how to place it. Left open or over one shoulder, you can’t really go wrong! In today’s look I decided to sport it as the primary part of my outfit. By cinching it at the waist with a large leather and suede belt, I am making it the focal point. What I like about this poncho in particular, because I’ve had many of them in the past few years, is the reversible feature, that allows for more style options and creates more color dimension. I also enjoy the Aztec print, classic yet graphic. Since the poncho can be quite overpowering, I chose to wear subtle and monochrome pieces with it. I opted for black since it’s more autumn appropriate but also because I have a love affair with it :) You can easily choose to go with white for a lighter feel! What about those faux-leather shorts? I found their sheen added texture and a subtle edge to the outfit. And those boots? I think they are a must when wearing short shorts in fall. By wearing over-the-knee socks under them, I wanted to create the illusion of thigh-high boots! Why? Because the real ones I truly want, I did not get! Yet … ;)
