Valentine’s day! Whether it’s the heart drawings on your morning Starbucks' coffee cup, the releasing of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie or the marathon reruns of Sex and The City on television (which I am guilty of watching as I am writing this article), you simply can’t forget or ignore that Valentine’s Day is coming up! Is it a marketing phenomenon or the love holiday? It's up to you to decide!
Being a hopeless romantic I have always perceived V-Day as a delightful way to express your love to your significant other! Corny… Right? Then corny I AM! Actually, I feel that every woman has that little princess inside of her that believes in a fairytale love story! Or else, why would she be a secret adept of “chick-flicks”? You know you are ;)
As a single woman, how do you envision it? Personally, I feel it’s the perfect day to celebrate how fabulous you are! This is why I am presenting five ways to treat yourself or your woman on that special day! It doesn’t have to be complicated or require a lot of shopping. Just a few items and a lot of imagination!
LUXURY BATH TREATMENT
Every woman enjoys a relaxing spa session! So why not do it at home? It’s all about creating an ambience and using the right products. Let’s start by preparing a soothing bubble bath (some bubbles in a flute is a good add-on too)! Then, by using a few quality bath products, because they do make a difference to your skin. The softer, the better!
A new product I tried recently is a true wonder of nature: Rose water! Being mediterranean, we always had a bottle at home! Because if you ask your lebanese grandmother, she will tell you that you can use that thing for everything! Well, she was right! Cleopatra was using it for a reason! It actually does wonders to the skin by rejuvenating, softening, calming and purifying it. It also acts as a great anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. It's simply benefiting by giving you a beautiful glow! And by the way, rose oil is apparently a great aphrodisiac… For future notice ;)
I definitely have a love affair with lingerie! Some might think it’s overrated but i believe it’s a small item of clothing that can change a woman’s attitude in a second! Lace, silk, satin or cotton, it can reflect every woman’s personality. Sophisticated, beautiful, elegant, soft or subtle, it has a way to make us feel utterly feminine! One of my favourite brands is Victoria’s Secret because they have a wonderful selection to choose from, their fit is amazing as well as being affordable. If you are looking for “haut-de-gamme” I suggest brands like La Perla, Aubade or Agent Provocateur. They are a fusion of European finest fabrics and art! Simply sublime!
The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. The counterpart for a woman is definitely sweets! Cookies, macarons (my personal favourites), truffles or candies, we like it all! Do not underestimate the power of a delicious chocolate box! Most of the time, it’s just enough to make us happy! So girls, this Valentine’s day, no counting carbs ;)
If your budget allows, jewelery is ALWAYS a good option for your sweetheart! You never go wrong with a little bit of sparkle! Sure, a little turquoise box will put a smile on her face, but a meaningful piece even more! A family heirloom or an engraved bracelet will definitely make her heart melt! As for you my single ladies, why not treat yourself with that precious piece you have been wanting for a while? Because you can!
SETTING THE MOOD
Winning a woman’s heart is simple! All you have to do is express your feelings through small thoughtful gestures! Setting up the mood for a night in is a perfect way to do that. Candle light dinner, maybe some bubbles, a few roses and an affectionate and sincere card go a long way! Keep it honest and make her feel special! As a bachelorette, I suggest setting the mood for love by discovering a new restaurant with friends, because you never know who you might meet! And always remember to...
From the hopeless romantic, here were very simple ways to treat a woman and make her feel precious! Which one will you choose on Valentine's Day?
