I don’t know about you, but I love food! Being a foodie at heart, I am always up for trying new restaurants, whenever I can. This means every week :) My favorite meal of the day is breakfast and most particularly brunch! That is why I have been on a mission to try all the delicious brunch places in Montreal and now in Manhattan. One of the best places I must admit and a classic for a Sunday brunch in Montreal is Maison Boulud at the Ritz-Carlton. Simple elegance at its finest!
I believe that style is about expressing yourself. How you are feeling on a specific day or what you want to emanate. On that Sunday, I felt like being chic and elegant! Why? Because I was going to the Ritz-Carlton! Let’s be honest here! You are not going to wear jogging pants or ripped jeans to the king of hotels! Yet, I still wanted to be comfortable. This is why I paired my faux leather maroon pencil skirt with a simple white T-shirt. To that I added a gold belt because a little bit of shine is always fun and allows every woman to exude her inner-princess.
About that belt! It’s actually a vintage belt that I stole from my mom... My beautiful queen :) Aside from being stunningly beautiful, my mom is the epitome of style, sophistication and femininity. To this day, she never leaves the house without makeup and is always perfectly put together. She has always been a fashion icon in my eyes! She actually had the belt from back in the 80’s and I always borrowed it until one day, I never gave it back! That has happened with a few items now ;)
When it came to footwear, I chose my over the knee black suede boots because I love the idea of mixing rich fabrics like faux leather and suede but also because they feel like a continuation of the skirt. Even though you don’t see any skin, it’s still sexy and sophisticated. Don’t you think? And of course... I needed a bit of sharpness, thus adding the black and white zigzag clutch!
After brunch, my friend and I went to the Old Port of Montreal, one of my beloved neighborhoods in Montreal. To stay warm, I sported my colorblock wool coat and ultra-soft scarf from Armani Exchange. The mix of bold cobalt blue and black as well as the sleek tailoring of the coat make it a staple in my wardrobe this season. I can wear it for a night out over a nice ensemble or dress it down and wear it with sneakers around town. Yes! I do wear sneakers... Sometimes ;) As for the scarf, the rich textured colorful weave fitted perfectly with the scheme of colors.
Hope you liked my look while I was wandering the streets of Montreal! Keep you posted on my next brunch look in NYC! Any suggestions of where I should go?
