And so a new week begins in Manhattan! Calm after the Fashion Week storm... No more traffic jams (well less!), back to the usual pace of the city and back to my little routine. Morning training, attending my fashion classes, working on my weekly assignments and final projects that are coming up very soon, working on the blog and of course socializing :) Taking full advantage of the time I have in amazing New York City! I truly feel like home here and the thought of going back to Montreal in 4 weeks already has me nostalgic…
This city is so inspiring in many different ways, especially when it comes to what I choose to wear! With the frenzy of fashion week, I felt I could style my look with statement pieces and match them differently than I would normally do in Montreal. I have had the leopard print long skirt for a couple of years and only wore it at events. But last week, I decided to sport in a streetwear fashion. Why? Why not? I love the flowy drape and the drama and movement it imposes! The crochet-paneled knit sweater made it more casual as well as the black tights. They tame down the effect of the skirt’s asymmetric side split, which became an element of the outfit instead of the focus.
For the jewelery, I went more minimal to put the emphasis on the bow brooch I attached on the skirt. I felt that its gold, peach and crystal rhinestones and white pearl complimented the colors of the outfit. Also, the sparkling stones and mix of leatherette and suede of the beige clutch dressed up the attire! What do you think? The cold weather called for a wool coat, faux-fur hat and knit scarf! They were all in neutral hues to keep the ensemble balanced and the attention on the skirt. About those animal prints! I believe you have to be careful when it comes to mixing them! In this look, I think the brownish leopard pattern of the booties added just enough edge while the high heel accentuated the silhouette of the skirt.
Sometimes, a unique piece is all it takes to expose your fierceness! Do you agree?
