Up to now I have shared with you my greatest passion: Fashion! But in the last few years I discovered a new world that has changed my life forever. In the summer of 2012, I made a big change in my life! I decided that I was going to become the fittest and healthiest version of myself!
I wasn't really a sportive person in the past! As a kid, I did play outside, jump the rope with my girlfriends, bike around the neighborhood, play basketball at the park and ice skate in the winter. Unfortunately, it was never in a consistent way nor was I ever part of a specific sport team . Let’s just say, I wasn’t the kind of kid to be picked first in gym class ;)
As I grew older, I tried staying in shape by going to the gym (only for a few months then stopping) or trying new sports here and there, but I was never dedicated! So, 6 months before my birthday in January 2013, I made a promise to myself that by then I would be in the best shape of my life! And... I was! Because, when I put my mind into something, nothing can get in my way! Since that day, I discovered the wonderful world of fitness, all it has to offer and have never looked back since :)
The first change I made was starting Pilates classes. All the celebrities were doing it! I had to know what the hype was all about ;) It’s not yoga. It’s not stretching. What is it exactly? It’s a fitness program that evolves mainly around resistance exercises that was developed by Joseph Pilates (an English circus performer and boxer) during World War I. It was mainly used to help rehabilitate detainees suffering from diseases and injuries and eventually became a favored fitness program in the dance and ballet community.
I was going to Pilates classes 3 times a week and saw my shape change a lot! My muscles were more defined, yet long and lean. My core was stronger and my waist tinnier. I was more flexible (more than I ever thought I could be) and I saw a great improvement in my posture. Of course, it took several classes before I could see the changes! By then, I had I fallen in LOVE with the program and have become an adept since! I am one of its biggest ambassadors and everyone who knows me knows how addicted I am :)
Let’s talk fashion now! I don’t know about you girls, but even though I am sweating, I still want to look cute doing it ;) For that type of exercise you need to wear a stretchy and comfortable sport attire. Victoria’s Secret VSX Sport collection is one of my favorites for Pilates and yoga, which I am a great fan of also! Their tights are extremely comfortable and stylish at the same time. As for the top, the front-close sport bra gives great support without causing too much compression, like other sports bras can do. Finally, even though they are not obligatory in a Pilates class, the Nike Studio Wraps are a great addition! They allow for freedom of movement and a flexible barefoot-like feeling. At the same time, they create a comfortable fitted support for the feet and enhance the grip on the machines and floor du to their silicone traction on the bottom. Little tip: They are awesome for the hot yoga lovers too!
