Last full day in Gotham City! As you are reading this, I will have presented my final project for my Fashion Styling class at the Fashion Institute of Technology! Time just flew by, it's crazy!
Prepping for the project, I went through several fashion editorial magazines. The pictures that caught my attention and images that inspired me the most were related to art & sculpture, innovative cuts, mixes of interesting fabrics and a monochromatic color scheme. This is how the theme for my moodboard became “L’Avant-Gardiste”! It represents the inspiration a creative and visionary woman would use to style her clothes! The first look is all white, slick and purist accentuated by black and white graphic accessories. The second one is edgy and all black with an emphasis on mixed fabrics such as lace, leather and silk, that was complimented with silver jewelry. Check them out at the bottom of this post and please let me know your opinion!
A black leather jacket in my opinion is a necessity in every woman’s wardrobe! Why? Because it’s always fashionable! It's the perfect coat to have come spring or fall and is a great piece to show the edgier side of your personality. I guess working on that project reflected in the choices of my clothes :) As you can see in these shots, taken last week before going to class, I wore a more daring outfit! I started by choosing the lounge pants because they are very comfy, yet the panther pattern gives them that extra edge! Then I added the cashmere long vest. I liked how it contrasted with the shorter leather jacket, creating dimension and a relaxed look. When it came to accessories, I relied on neutral and metallic colors such as beige (for the purse) and copper and gold (for the jewelry), to stay within the same rock vibe. Rock on!
I also am a big fan of playing with my makeup and trying new colour palettes! In this look I channeled my darker side and went with a deep cherry color lipstick and black cat eyeliner. Very witchy of me! I love playing with different styles and I felt this look was a cool mix of Goth and chic! Do you agree?
Only 24 hours to go in amazing New York City! See you soon Montreal :)
