Before I left for New York, my friends offered me a card for my birthday asking to save the night of March 21st 2015 for a surprise activity! Back then I was so busy preparing for my trip that I didn’t even have the time to wonder what it was going to be. A day before the event, I get a message asking me to wear a sexy and dressy outfit and that there were no limits to my choice of attire! I was told to be ready for 7h30 pm, prepare a video in which I share my name, the date, the time, how I styled my outfit, my expectations for the night and a wish (which I will keep secret ;)) That was it! Nothing more, nothing less!
So I got the sexiest items in my wardrobe and came up with a black and white look! I’ve had this animal print skirt for years. I decide to wear it because I love the high slit and its flirty accent. Also, I find the flowy fabric and the leopard pattern very feminine. When it came to accessories, I went bolder than usual! The black fringe sandals are edgy and fun at the same time. As for the lace bunny ear headband, it's playful and risqué ;) I sure was ready for a great time!
At 7h45, a nice gentleman knocks on my door. It was the black limousine driver waiting to take me to my surprise destination! They got me a limo! How crazy are they? I had a flower waiting and a bottle of champagne to enjoy the ride. Perfect way to start the night! I tried getting information out of the driver on where we were going but he kept it secret. They taught him well :) We finally get to the Main, one of the busiest boulevards in Montreal. As I got out of the limousine, a photographer started taking pictures of me! At that second I had no idea what was happening! Initially, I thought I was going to a fashion related event with my girlfriends Pauline and Nola or a professional photo shoot like we've done in the past. Those were my two guesses. I was so wrong! I get into the venue and waiting for me was… A red carpet event in the honor of Griffé Natalie!
All my closest friends and family were there to surprise me! They were all dressed to impress and looking like superstars! This was all organized by the “Benetton Girls”. This name was given to my group of five close girlfriends while traveling through Europe, because we represent a mix of ethnicities! These incredible ladies organized a huge party to celebrate my birthday but also to show their support to Griffé Natalie and encourage me in my crazy dreams! In my last post, I was writing about how sensational my friends were, but that surprise hit my heart to its core… I was so touched that I couldn’t hold my tears!
They thought about everything! They had a huge banner with my logos on it and a red carpet. There was a professional photographer taking pictures! They also decorated the venue with framed photos from my blog. Sayuri Sushi Boutique was catering with finger-licking Asian fusion food and champagne, wine and all types of alcohol were available all night long! A DJ was playing my favorite tunes adding to the evening’s star worthy vibe! They even personalized the water bottles with Griffé Natalie’s logo! As for the desert table, we had personalized cupcakes, macarons of all flavors and a stylish black and white delicious cake topped with an eatable red Louboutin pump! How remarkable is all that! I was beyond impressed with the whole setting!
Most of all, I was tremendously touched by the time and love they put into organizing a fabulous event just for ME! Why me? What have I done to deserve to be surrounded by such marvelous friends! I thank God everyday not only for the beautiful life he has given me but for the friends and family he blessed me with!
It was simply a magical night! I LOVE YOU my Benetton Girls :)
