It’s that time of the year when I can’t stand winter anymore! Five months of cold weather are more than enough! Don’t you agree? I know my fellow Canadians understand! I miss the warm weather, wearing summer dresses, sporting colourful sandals and sipping on a cold champagne sangria on a terrace! I want to be on a beach with my feet in the sand, breathing the salty ocean breeze and enjoying the turquoise water… I want at least a real spring season! Mother nature and I need to have a talk! Ok! I feel better now! Got it out of my system!
Talking of spring, I had a glimpse of it during my last week in New York City. It took only one warm and sunny day after the multiple snow storms for the whole city to go outside! What did I do? I joined the party! My friend and I went for a walk around Central Park and 5th Avenue, admired the beautiful vitrines, had lunch and tea at the Plaza Hotel then did a little bit of shopping :) I behaved… Don’t worry!
I opted for a flowy long sleeve dress that day simply because I found it to be versatile and easy to wear. You don’t have to worry about the fit, which makes it perfect when you have an off day! You know what I mean ladies! One of those days… When nothing fits well and you just don’t feel good in your skin. If you understand what I am writing about, then you need to have a tunic or two in your wardrobe! It’s my go to item when I don’t know what to wear. Whether I am going on a date, to have dinner with friends or for an afternoon tea, it never fails to deliver! You can wear it down and make it more casual simply by layering a jean jacket over it and sporting it with cute flats. You also have the option of accessorizing it with pointy pumps and a blazer if you want to go classy. Or, you can create a sophisticated look by pairing it with high heel boots and a fedora like I did on that gorgeous day!
As you might have seen in previous posts, I love my hats! Maybe I was an English duchess in a past life? Or so I want to believe :) I find the fedora to bring a nice urban touch to the attire as well as warmth with its marsala hue. I think the red-brown colour of the year is a flavorful shade, that is flattering against most skin tones and conveys a sense of luxury! Loving it!
What do you think of the boots? Aren’t they a good transition into spring with their peep toe? I chose to stay in the earth tones when it came to my choice of boots, purse and coat, which I find compliment well the overall style. I was ready to hit the concrete jungle that is Manhattan!
Hope you have a great weekend!
