What I love about New York is its ethnic diversity (which reminds me a lot of Montreal), high-pace rhythm and various vibrant neighborhoods! Each one of them has its charm and fashion. One of my favorite areas has always been Soho! It’s mainly known as the location of many artists’ lofts and art galleries. The creative vibe is very transparent in the divers shops you find there! You have the most adorable coffeehouses, refined and intimate restaurants, unique stores and splendid luxury boutique hotels. Strolling around Soho reminds me a lot of walking in Paris. You can just loose yourself, enjoy the streets in pursuit of magic and stop for a delectable macaron!
On that specific day, I met a friend for brunch at La Durēe. Oh yes! They do have it NYC, to my delicious surprise! And by the way, they are not only excellent for their sweet deserts! The food and service are amazing! They were so good that we went back a few hours later for dinner before heading to our night class at Parsons. It was a beautiful day in the Big Apple and one of the warmest ones this crazy unpredictable season! This is why I chose to wear my black faux leather shorts. It was then or never! Yet, I still put on black tights, knee socks and a coat because I am not that insane!
Since I knew we would be walking a lot and by that I mean shopping ;) I wanted to wear flats and an easy-going yet cute look! I felt the polka dot shirt and the silver moccasins added a playful flair to the attire without being overpowering. By the way, from what I am seeing from Fashion Weeks, this next fall/winter season, loafers are going to replace the famous sneakers that have been worn in a chic-sporty style in the past year. And accessories will mostly be in the metallic shades. So I guess I had an intuition when I got those shoes :) To keep warm, I paired the shirt with a cashmere sleeveless vest. I am always wearing it, over everything, simply because it’s so cozy. You never go wrong with cashmere! Also, the greige color is quite versatile.
Since the main items were simple, I opted for big and chunky accessories like the chain necklace and copper bracelets for another lustrous touch. As for the Tom Ford shades, they complimented the colors of the outfit! But what you should know is that they were an unplanned splurge that day! That’s what Soho does to you and your wallet! But for those who know me well, you know how much I love a good pair of designer sunglasses and how I need to buy one in each city I visit! Yes… that is one of my vices! I only have a few I promise :)
How about you? Which neighborhood of New York City is your favorite?
