The spring is almost here! We can smell it in the air! Today is a splendid day in Manhattan! The sun is out, the weather is mild, kids are playing in the streets, the taxi driver is asking me how my day is, New Yorkers are smiling and taking the time to stop a little and enjoy the city! It’s amazing how the weather has an impact on our mood! I know it does on mine because I am one happy camper :)
With the spring season approaching, one of my absolute favourite garments to have is a trench! You have already seen my old school British type one in a previous post. But today, I will be writing about a modern and chic version of this versatile item: the RED trench! Even though it’s a vibrant color, I believe it can still count as a “neutral” when it comes to coats. It will forever be a classic and can be worn during most seasons, depending on its brightness! It’s just incredible how by just being red, one single piece can attract attention to a whole outfit!
I was meeting a friend for lunch at Buvette, a lovely and cozy French bistro in the West Village. And what better color to wear than passion red! When I saw this coat, it was love at first sight! It was primarily with the color, then the shape! The A line design has a certain “je ne sais quoi”. The structure emanates sophistication yet it’s fluid and fun at the same time :) The snow falling on NYC that day and covering it in a pure white fluff inspired me to wear only black and white with the jacket. The black leggings and boots kept the emphasis on the statement piece. For the top, I opted for a “pied-de-poule” silky shirt. I found that having a bold motif on a major item added an interesting edge to the whole look. Do you agree? I also styled the outfit with a bangle and ring that have a contrast monochrome pattern. I think the square crystals and clean design of the jewelry were the perfect contemporary touches. As for the snake effect of the envelope clutch, it was a subtle way to add dimension with an all black purse.
I consider the trench to be a must-have! You can have it in the color that best suits your personal style: beige, camel, black, green or red. You can wear it short or long, belted or open, with a long maxi dress, jeans or a pencil skirt… Endless options, for a timeless piece!
Which shade will you be getting this spring?
Have a wonderful week everyone!
