As promised, here are all the details about my look at the 2015 Sugar Ball organized by the McCord Museum last Friday May 8th 2015. There were over a thousand young professionals passionate about raising funds to promote our wonderful Montreal’s heritage. The proceeds go to the McCord Museum, which will organize several educational activities and exciting exhibitions to stimulate the interest towards our city’s social history.
The Arsenal was decorated in such a cheerful and colourful way, that you felt like you were in candy land! And indeed, we were! The evening started off with a multitude of tasty salty food stations. They were presented by Milos and their awesome grilled octopus, Bevo and their gourmet wood-oven pizzas, Le Richmond’s foie gras, Ryu’s original sushis, Le Bistro La Societe and the best smoked-meat in town and Taverne F and Ferreira Café with their delectable beef tartare cones and grilled sardines. Let’s not forget the cheese, nuts and bread station as well as the Starbucks station, the Burgundy Lion station that offered various brands of Scotch and the open-bar available for the guests! We were spoiled! Then, we mingled and danced to the hot beats of DJ YO-C all night long!
Now let’s talk about the sweets! For someone who has a sweet tooth, I was in heaven! From cupcakes, to cookies, to gelato, to brownies, to cannolis, to Nutella pizza, to biscottis, to non-fat vegan gummies, to jars filled with a multitude of candies and chocolates and to cotton candy my favorite childhood treat, my palettes were filled with ecstasy :) And guess what? There were doggy bags available too! As you might have guessed, I was on a sugar rush the whole weekend! I just couldn’t fight the eternal child in me ;)
I have been really enjoying the masculine trend lately and was inspired by it for my attire! This is why I opted for shorts with a classic cut and a sleeveless blazer. Its long line is very reminiscent of a man’s tailored suit jacket. But, the crepe crop top underneath and the shorts keep the look feminine and über sexy! I might appreciate the garçonne style but I still like to showcase my womanly features :) I believe that strong, powerful and seductive are attributes that can and should be portrayed together by young professional women! Since the look was all black, I thought the layering of silver necklaces would be a cool contemporary touch. Do you agree? Because the necklaces are great statement pieces, I chose more subtle bag and shoes. I decided on my black envelope clutch and black leather platform pumps, with silver bow clip-ons. I find they are simple and classy and don’t take the attention away from the main outfit.
