You know how you have several friends from high school or even kindergarten that you haven’t spoken to for years but somehow follow on Facebook? Well first, there are the ones you never spoke to (even back in high school) but feel a social obligation to accept as friends when the request is sent! Why do we do that? Then you have the ones that were only school buddies. And finally, the real friends you actually spent time with back then and that you follow on social media because you care! Well, this week I met up with one of those old friends and it was a pure delight!
Even though J and I met seventeen years ago and only saw each other once a couple of years ago by accident, I felt like I knew what was happening with her life because of social media! But, after liking each other’s pictures and a few messages here and there throughout the years, I decided that it was time we had a reunion! I loved that sweet and innocent girl back in high school and even more now as the beautiful, intelligent, strong yet delicate woman she has become! It was so enjoyable to see how each one of us has changed and evolved but somehow stayed the same! It felt like I had seen her yesterday except that her hair is shorter :) But let’s not mention that! Apparently, it was a necessity after the hairdresser burned her hair! We talked about our families, old friends, work and career, children, men, exes, relationships and our aspirations in life :) It was interesting to see how comfortable we were to express our deepest thoughts and dreams and connect even though we hadn’t seen each other for so long… One thing is for sure is that I am definitely staying in touch because it is not every day that you realize that good old friends can be your new inspiring ones!
When you are meeting friends for dinner after work like I was this week, you have to find an outfit that can go from day to night and that doesn’t require a lot of changes. The one I am wearing in these shots is my version of that! Simple black skinny jeans and a silky top is all you need! The black pants are very versatile. I wear them with flats at work, because I never sit down and run everywhere! And when comes nighttime, I switch for strappy sandals, which change the whole look! The flowy top is ideal for a professional environment because it is not too tight and cleavage appropriate! But, the black and white stripes and orange details make it more edgy for a dinner out. During the day I sported a big tote to put all my stuff in and in the evening I replaced it for the zigzag clutch, which I find to be a great match to the graphic top, making the style more urban! Then for that extra pop, I went for a bolder lip color came nighttime :) What do you wear when you are looking for a day to night outfit?
