Black has always been my favorite color for clothes! I believe you can evoke elegance, edginess, sophistication or sexiness depending on how you style and wear it! One piece that every woman should definitely own is the classic little black dress. Thank you Coco Chanel for making fashion history by bringing this timeless garment to life in the 1920’s! Where did the LBD design come from? Coco was actually inspired by the monochrome attire she wore as an orphan for many years. More precisely, it was her uniform when she was apprenticed as a servant to orphans of “higher social ranking”. Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel was savvy enough to turn a simplistic outfit into a statement piece of clothing in every woman’s wardrobe. Not only did she embody the strength and ambition of a powerful career-oriented woman, she was also and still is the essence of a style icon!
For a night out, whether I am assisting to a concert of the Symphonic Orchestra of Montreal, going out on a date or for drinks with friends on a Saturday night, my Karen Millen black dress never fails to deliver! The shape might be very simple but the fit is at its finest! It’s one of those outfits you put on, zip and don’t need to pin or tweak. It just suits like a glove! I have many black dresses, as you might have guessed :) My eyes always seem to be drawn to that colour whenever I am shopping! It's uncontrollable ;) What I enjoy about this black dress specifically is its feminine flare! The ruffles on top create a lovely movement but are delicate enough to keep the style classy and tasteful. I decided to go for a total black attire because I was seeking a chic look! I find the jacket’s three-quarter sleeves, no collar and bright orange lining suggest a hint of modernity to this classic frock. Then for a refined and shiny touch, I decided on a sequin clutch and peep-toe satin pumps :) Keeping in mind that simplicity is often key to beauty!
