As I am writing this post, I am on my way back to Montreal from Toronto after an enjoyable and lively bachelorette weekend! It’s always pleasant to leave town, even if it’s just for a few days, disconnect from your routine, recharge and come back with a fresh perspective on the new week ahead! Plus, a fun time with girls is the perfect way to do that! We all know what happens when a bunch of women reunite! We talk about men! You have the bride-to-be who is excited about marrying her perfect prince, the married woman showing pictures of her kids and rarely talking about her man, the newlywed adapting to living with her husband, the in couple girl enjoying this comfortable stage of her relationship and not thinking about the future as well as the single gal flirting with hot men and sharing her latest date or breakup story! One thing they have in common: they’re all still trying to figure out men! It seems to be the ultimate goal! We’ve all heard of the book: “Men are Mars, Women from Venus”. Well, it couldn’t be more true and more real! What I have come to realize with time, age, too many girl talks and personal experience is that men and women will NEVER fully understand each other! Even if we try… Even if we ask our guy friends to explain to us how they think… Each one of us wants to master the opposite sex’s language, fit in his/her planet and feel like one of them. And that’s a mistake! I think you can’t and shouldn’t change whom you truly are to be able to do so! There’s a limit to how much you can adapt to understand the other sex’s world. This is why I believe we need to spend quality time with our same sex friends! I consider girls’ and boys’ nights mandatory in every kind of relationship! They allow you to be and feel understood in areas that your significant other would never understand. You come back stronger and more tolerant, thus happier :) I definitely know I would not be sane without my girls!
A few weeks ago, I told you about my collaboration with a New York City friend and emerging photographer: Marvin Mathieu! Today, I am posting some of the shots we did together :) It was a pure pleasure to work with such an amazing artist and I am looking forward to doing more photo shoots with him! I was excited about incorporating some sophistication into a street look! The white dress from Rudsak was the perfect piece to interpret that vision! The contrast between the silky tunic and the rough leather shoulder pads, the mix of light and heavy fabrics and the divergence of colors were ideal to create that style! Loved… Loved those sharp leather accents and fell hard for the minimalism of this tunic! I’ve always had a love affair with leather! It never fails to deliver a sense of edge and never gets dated! This explains the funky sandals! Aren’t their fringes the coolest? It’s a party in your feet whenever you're walking :) Also, I kept it clean with the accessories. A simple black clutch, a single silver ring and one main element: the black satin glove. It’s reminiscent of a biker glove, which I found to be a great compliment to the leather details!
Have a great week everyone! After a weekend in Venus, I’ll be enjoying visiting Mars this week :)
