Last Friday I attended the Let's Bond Ball - Goldeneye Edition to raise funds and awareness for mental health issues. It was a huge success! This year's event raised an astounding 250,000$ benefiting the Mental Illness Foundation! Huge congratulations go to the remarkable committee of young professionals behind this annual fundraiser. It was a privilege to join forces with such a dedicated team and I am looking forward to more collaborations!
This year's theme was "Siberian Chic". You can imagine my excitement when I had the opportunity to play with fur, silk, pearls and crystals. Yes... I am a kid that loves to dress up :) So, what to wear? Because I love accessories, I wanted a simple dress that would be the perfect canvas. I opted for this slick Alice and Olivia dress. I felt the black and white colour blocking was reminiscent of one of James Bond’s tuxedos. Then again, I wanted the look to be feminine and that’s what the high-low and cut out waist dress highlighted.
With all the events and balls I attend, I don’t always have time to shop and find the best attire. A busy lady needs a one-stop shop to find that one-of-a kind dress. Which is why I went to Loue1Robe for this event. It’s an amazing boutique in Montreal where you can rent an evening gown and have it fitted to your size. You have the chance to have a one-on-one hour with a stylist that will help you find the dress that suits your expectations and personality. All you have to do is book an appointment, up to a few days prior to the event you’re attending, for a customized quality service! You can find dresses from designers like Herve Leger and Elie Saab, from sizes 0 to 20 and at an affordable price! And, if your man is looking for a tuxedo, he is at the right place, as they also rent suits for all occasions.
After finding the right dress, the fun part started: accessorizing! I always felt that a glamorous Ball like Let’s Bond was the ultimate event to take fashion risks. I might of channelled 007 with my “tux” dress but I aspired for a Bond girl vibe with the chunky crystal jewellery and long silk gloves. To modernize the whole look, I chose asymmetric high heels, a fuchsia clutch and blue lipstick. The indigo colour was quite a subject during the evening! I was inspired by Milan’s SS17 fashion week and found this latest trend to be avant-garde yet chic. It was somewhat of an adventure to find the right shade of dark electric blue, which is why I ended up creating it with two different eye pencils! That sure took less space in my handbag ;)
